RETX - ISO New England LRP Project
Customers purchase power on demand from NEPOOL and then through software
provided by RETX are able to sell that back to ISO New England. This
reduces ISO's need for excess or 'Spinning Reserve'. This reduction in
Spinning Reserve in turn reduces GHG emissions and is what will be claimed
for Credits. The concept and software are applicable all across the country
and in other parts of the world.
Grand Prairie Energy LLC - Grand Prairie Project
ABB has gone out of the project development business, but has allowed project
management teams to takeover and continue development of some of their
projects. Grand Prairie, is one such project, which is an insertion of a gas
fired combined cycle power plant in the mostly oil and coal fired simple cycle
Northern Illimois Grid. Grand Prairie will show cycle efficiency improvement
and the benefit of substituting gas firing for oil or coal. Both steps
generate reductions in GHG emissions. The project will generate 1500 MW of electricity
and a large number of GHG Credits.
Titan Cement - St Johns River Power Park Project
Titan will employ the Separation Technologies, Inc (STI) electrostatic separation system to separate the
carbon rich and mineral rich constituents from each other in coal based flyash. The
mineral fraction will be used to substitute for cement in making concrete. By
supplanting cement, the 0.97 tons of CO2 emitted with each ton of 'Clinker'
produced are eliminated. The concrete also becomes stronger and lasts longer.
This will be the third such flyash separation project by STI to earn GHG
Credits.
